This makes ETH Zurich the highest-ranked university outside the Anglo-Saxon sphere. As in previous years, this year’s THE rankings are topped by the University of Oxford, followed by Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Princeton University and the University of Cambridge are newly ranked joint third, pushing Harvard University off the podium. In Switzerland, EPFL (ranked 35) also made it into the world’s top 100 universities alongside ETH Zurich.
Consistently high level
With a cumulative score of 93.1 points out of a maximum possible 100 points, ETH Zurich achieved virtually the same result as last year. The THE rankings take five aspects into account in their overall assessment: “Teaching,” “Research Environment,” “Research Quality,” “Industry Income” and “International Outlook”. As in the past, “Research Environment” (rank 10) and “Teaching” (rank 14) contributed most to ETH Zurich’s positive result. Compared to last year, the results remained virtually unchanged in all areas.
