German language courses
The joint Language Center of the University of Zurich and ETH Zurich offers German courses.

Course are offered at several levels of proficiency.
- Beginner (A1)
- Post-beginner (A1.2 - A2.2)
- Intermediate B level (B1.1 - B2.2)
- Proficiency C level (C.1.1 – C 1.2)
You will benefit the most from a course designed for your level.
- You will receive a certificate with a mark from the Language Center if you attend classes regularly and attain a passing mark in the assessments.
- Two ECTS are awarded for a German course (intensive or semester course) upon successful completion. They will appear on your ETH transcript.
- These courses are held during the two weeks before the beginning of the semester.
- You are expected to attend courses regularly. If you miss the first lesson(s), inform your lecturer by email in advance.
- The course fee is CHF 120. There may be an additional charge for copies and other course materials (see course description).
- Course offer: various levels from beginners (A1) to more advanced.
- These courses consists of two lessons per week.
- Consider that you will have to invest several hours every week for independent study.
- You are expected to attend courses regularly.
- You can initially only register for one German course during the semester. On Thursday before semester starts (9.00), you can add other courses.
- Lectures with exercises (large-group courses) on grammar or vocabulary:
- Take one German course and you may also attend one of the Lectures with excercises courses.
- Prior enrollment in a German course is necessary.
- The course fee is CHF 100. There may be an additional charge for copies and other course materials (see course description).

- Registration on the website of the Language Center is necessary.
- We recommend to register as soon as the registration opens as the number of places is limited.
