Supplementary gains

Any supplementary salary, additional scholarship or other benefits (i.e. paid accommodation) must be reported to FCS and the Reception Service. These benefits may have an impact on the individual tax situation.

  • You must report any supplementary salary or scholarship to FCS and the Reception Service. This includes any changes in your supplementary gains throughout your scholarship period.
  • The overall sum (scholarship and supplementary gains / salary) cannot be higher than the standard remuneration in the field.
  • We recommend that you consult with the Reception Service before you sign contracts.

After arriving in Switzerland, you will be asked to declare any supplementary gains in the Go-ESKAS system.

  • If you do not have any supplementary gains, no action is required.
  • If you do have supplementary gains, upload a PDF of your signed work contract or other proof of additional scholarship or benefits in Go-ESKAS and follow the instructions provided in the system.

If your supplementary gains change, update the information in Go-ESKAS. You must also inform the relevant tax authorities (i.e. external page tax authority of city of Zurich) and health insurance authorities (i.e. external page SVA Zurich), even if you did not initially receive extra funding beyond your scholarship.

Be sure to keep copies of all correspondence.
