Insurances at the end of the scholarship
The insurance situation must be clarified before the end of the scholarship.
Choose what suits your situation.
In general
FCS will send all scholarship holders with an Advisor Optima or HMO insurance an email that you must follow.
If you leave Switzerland
Plan your deregistration with the authorities, order a deregistration confirmation from your place of residence at a fee and send the confirmation to the ADVISOR Swiss Insurance SA before you leave.
If you do not leave Switzerland
- Health and accident insurance is mandatory by Swiss law.
- You must inform ADVISOR Swiss Insurance SA immediately and enquire directly with the company whether your current policy will continue automatically or whether it is possible to conclude another insurance cover.
- You must respect legal deadlines for a change of your insurance cover and / or company, and that you are responsible for paying the premiums and costs yourself.
If you leave Switzerland
You do not have to do anything.
If you do not leave Switzerland
- Check the validity of your card. (The expiry date is printed on the card.)
- Should you still be in Switzerland when the card expires, you must contact the appropriate office in your home country and request an extension.
- As soon as you receive a salary, your EHIC insurance coverage is no longer guaranteed, and you need to take out a Swiss health insurance.
Insurance contracts differ, which is why no detailed statements can be made. Check whether you need to extend or cancel any contracts (regardless of whether you are leaving Switzerland or not).
- By Swiss law, every person must have health and accident insurance.
- Personal liability insurance is optional and recommended.
- Gaps in contributions for old-age pensions should be avoided.
- Choose the insurance coverage according to your post scholarship situation in Switzerland carefully.
- Before you return to your home country, you must cancel your Swiss insurance(s). You will need a deregistration confirmation for the cancellation.
