Data informed support

Building on the experience of the initial version of our self-developed curriculum mapping tool, we are now developing the second generation of this tool: the Curriculum Information Tool (CIT). The CIT is designed to support processes for curriculum management, planning, and development. It is integrated with the ETH database via an upgraded interface, enabling direct access to all relevant catalog data, including competencies from the ETH competence framework.

Current Features of CIT 1.4:

  • Construction and visualization of current curricula
  • Visualization of elective options within a curriculum
  • Modification of existing curricula
  • Visualization of assigned competencies, including specification of subject-specific competencies for each degree program
  • Visualization of course categories within a curriculum
  • Visualization of service courses included in a curriculum
  • Visualization of student workload data within curricula (based on course evaluation data)
  • Multiple options for highlighting learning units within the curriculum

Development of the tool is ongoing, conducted in close collaboration with key stakeholders at the departments, to ensure it meets the specific needs of ETH Zurich.

Upcoming Features Currently Under Development:

  • Collection and visualization of students’ qualitative workload progression throughout the semester, displayed at both course and semester levels
  • Various analyses and visual representations of key metrics and planning data relevant to curriculum development at the curriculum level
