Leading Student Teams

Hands-on leadership training for students in active leadership roles

Context

Are you leading a team in a student initiative at ETH – like a Fachverein, commission, competition team, or another student-led group (e.g. a project-based course)?

Do you want to grow as a leader, build stronger teams, and handle the challenges of peer leadership more confidently?

Then this workshop is for you. In a 5-hour, in-person session, you’ll explore practical tools and strategies to help you lead with clarity, confidence, and care. The focus is on real-world challenges student leaders face and how to handle them with skill and reflection.

What you will learn:

  • Reflect on your leadership style and learn to adapt it to different
    situations
  • Practice giving and receiving feedback in a clear, constructive way
  • Understand what makes teams work well — from psychological safety to collaboration
  • Explore how to motivate and engage your team sustainably
  • Navigate conflict and tension with confidence
  • Strengthen your self-leadership, because you can’t pour from an empty cup

Who it is for

This workshop is open to ETH students currently leading or part of a leadership team in a Fachverein, student association, competition team, or other student-led initiative.

Whether you're coordinating projects, guiding teammates, or supporting others, this session is designed to help you thrive in your role.
