Global Lecture Series: The Energy Transition in Practice
30 October 2025 – Join us for a dynamic conversation on the future of energy, where decades of technological leadership meet economics, environmental science, and policy analysis. Featuring guest speaker Bettina Bachmann in conversation with ETH climate and energy economics expert Lint Barrage, this conversation will be moderated by Chris Luebkeman.
What does it take to shift the global energy system? How can energy leaders in the private sector balance shareholder expectations with long-term sustainability goals? What is the impact of high energy prices from a macro-economic perspective? How does policy influence the energy debate?
In this ETH Global Lecture, Bettina Bachmann, a veteran energy executive with over three decades of experience at Shell and an advocate for Women in Tech, joins Lint Barrage, Associate Professor at ETH Zurich and expert in climate and energy economics, to explore the challenges and opportunities of the energy transition. From policy design to technological deployment, their conversation — moderated by Chris Luebkeman from the ETH Foresight Hub — will unpack the systemic changes needed to move from fossil to future.
