Tuition fees
The study fees include the tuition and the semester fees. Tuition fees for all Bachelor's and Master's students are currently CHF 730 per semester. As of the autumn semester 2025, a new regulation will come into effect that distinguishes between two groups of students.

For all other foreign students, the simple tuition fee applies ONLY IF:
- they have an EU/EFTA citizenship and a B, L or G permit with the remark ‘right to gainful employment’ or a settlement permit C.
- their parents have an EU/EFTA citizenship and a B or L permit (both with the remark ‘right to gainful employment’) or a settlement permit C and the students have a residence permit in Switzerland before starting their studies.

Threefold tuition fee: CHF 2190 / semester
All students who do not fulfil the criteria for simple tuition fee will be assigned to the second group paying a threefold tuition fee. See above: Students simple tuition fee

Note
Please note that if the purpose of your stay in Switzerland changes from ‘study’ to ‘gainful employment’,
- you cannot take out a Swiss health insurance for international students anymore, which means that the monthly costs for the health insurance are going to be at least CHF 250 to 300 higher.
- a change back to a Swiss health insurance for international students is not possible anymore, even if you are not employed anymore.
- a request for exemption from the Swiss health insurance obligation will not be granted in the canton of Zurich. Please check the rules for other cantons directly with the cantonal institutions authorised to grant exemption from compulsory health insurance. An overview can be found on the website of the external page Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH), under ‘Documents’.
- the conditions for obtaining a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) may no longer be met.
