3. Application internal
The ETH internal application consists of several steps.
Application deadline
1 December, 13:00, for the following academic year
You can apply starting from the Infomarkt date. You may select up to 10 partner universities (priorities) in your application.
Some places may still be available after the first application round.
Approval of your degree programme
You must obtain approval from your departmental exchange coordinator before submitting your application.

Online application
You apply on Mobility-Online.
- Click the green "Login ETH-Outgoings & Staff" button and authenticate yourself on the next page.
- Fill out the form.
- Select your priorities (i.e. partner universities whose exchange places you want to apply for).
- Sent the form.
- Follow the instructions emailed to you. (If you do not receive an email, your submission was not successful. Try again.)
Always log in via the green "Login ETH-Outgoings & Staff" button.
After logging in, you will see all the required steps in the workflow.
- Complete each step by clicking the link on the right-hand side under "Direct access via the following link."
- Upload the necessary documents at the relevant step. (Per step, you can upload only one document at a time. To upload several documents, you must make several uploads.)
- Submit your application by confirming the terms and conditions (workflow step).
- You will receive an automatic confirmation of receipt by email. (If you do not receive this email, your application has not been successfully submitted. Try again.)
Your application is binding for all selected priorities. If you withdraw without sufficient reasons, the Student Exchange Office reserves the right to exclude you from its programmes in the future. Examples of sufficient reasons are: Illness, accident, massive drop in performance during studies.
Allocation
- The Student Exchange Office and your departmental exchange coordinator review your application formally and academically.
- Your exchange spot will be allocated based on your chosen priorities in a lottery system.
- You will be notified of the decision by email by the end of December/beginning of January.
- If the decision is positive, you will be informed of the partner university you have been allocated to and the next steps to take (e.g. compiling a study plan).
