Professor of Synthetic Organic Chemistry and Professor of (Bio)Analytical Chemistry
The Department of Chemistry and Applied Biosciences at ETH Zurich invites applications for the above-mentioned two positions at the Laboratory of Organic Chemistry (LOC).
Ideal candidates will have an already established, internationally recognized research program in the area of synthetic organic chemistry or (bio)analytical chemistry, broadly defined.
Specific examples of possible areas for the position in synthetic organic chemistry include: (bio)catalysis, natural product synthesis, mechanistic studies, organic materials, medicinal chemistry and technology-enabled preparative organic chemistry.
Specific examples of possible areas for the position in (bio)analytical chemistry include: -omics fields, lipid and membrane science, mass spectrometry, new analytical technique development and/or analysis of complex biological and chemical systems (e.g. origin and prevalence of life).
The future professors are expected to participate at all levels in the undergraduate and graduate teaching curriculum. In general, at ETH Zurich undergraduate level courses are taught in German or English and graduate level courses are taught in English. Strong and proven leadership skills are crucial for the successful candidates.
