This course provides solid foundations in scientific writing, particularly in grammar, sentence structure, vocabulary, and style. It also equips doctoral students with useful know-how about basic academic tools: online resources, AI-based tools, reference management software, and style guides. Participants can find their scientific voice by analysing model texts from their discipline and drafting and editing their own writing. Writing assignments include synthesizing scientific sources and describing research data. The course also prepares doctoral students for a follow-up course, “Scientific Writing Practice II”, which helps writers produce a research paper in English.
