The Respect Programme, whose slogan is Respect – Reflect – Respond, is entering its next phase. The programme offers all ETH members digestible information and learning modules to help them develop their conflict management skills and consequently their social and leadership competencies. In the 2025 Autumn Semester, the focus will be on topics such as decision-making in difficult situations, inner strength, successful negotiating and self-regulation. The events invite members to adopt fresh perspectives and give them tangible strategies to try out in their day-to-day lives at ETH Zurich.
The programme kicks off on Tuesday, 23 September with a talk by Klaus Eidenschink. The renowned organisational consultant, executive coach, author and winner of the 2024 Psychology Award will explain how supposed disruptive factors, such as fear, anger and uncertainty, can in fact serve as an important compass in professional, technical and academic settings. He will look at how we can harness unpleasant emotions to gain clarity. The event will take place online with simultaneous interpretation into English.
On Monday, 27 October, Julia Dannath, Vice President for Personnel Development and Leadership, will interview dancer and former prima ballerina, Giulia Tonelli. Their conversation will centre on topics such as mental strength, determination and the passion needed to reach peak performance. What helps people stay focused and give their best, even when the going gets tough? The interview is aimed at anyone who is interested in dealing with challenges in a highly competitive environment.
