In October 2025, ETH Zurich sent a clear signal of openness and support in dealing with mental health with its Mental Health Awareness Days. Over five days, events at the Zentrum campus, H?nggerberg, Octavo, Basel and Lugano provided opportunities for exchange, knowledge and encounters – for staff and students alike.?

Highlights included lectures by Dr Barbara Studer on ‘Mental Strength through Neurobalance’ and by Esther Pauchard on ‘Under Pressure – Coping in Exciting Times’, open panel discussions on the topic ‘When should I seek help – and how?’ as well as creative formats such as the music film “Whiplash” and the poetry slam ‘Mind Matters’. Various specialist departments provided information about counselling and prevention services at information stands, with a particular focus on personal exchange.

Anyone who missed the lectures can watch the recordings on the Sharepoint external page Wellbeing & Resilience or in L3H.

A guide to mental health

A special bonus for all participants was the guidebook ‘Mental Balance’, which was produced by the newspaper DIE ZEIT in collaboration with ETH Zurich specifically for the Swiss market. The guidebook was presented for the first time during the event and distributed at the information stands. A total of around 6,000 copies are already in circulation: Around 1,200 were sent to ETH executives and professors, and the rest were distributed in the departments, directly at the Mental Health Awareness Days at the various locations, and in Basel and Lugano.

Additional copies are available at the campus information desks, the psychological counselling centres or by ordering from .

A strong signal

The Mental Health Awareness Days 2025 demonstrated how valuable and important it is to work together to promote a healthy, supportive university culture. The positive response and widespread distribution of the guide underscore ETH's strong commitment to mental health – a mission that extends far beyond the days of the event.
