News from the Executive Board 1/2026
At its most recent meetings, the Executive Board of ETH Zurich dealt with matters including elections to the Risk Management Commission and the Sustainability Council.
Replacements and re-elections in the Risk Management Commission
As of 1 February, there will be personnel changes in the Risk Management Commission of ETH Zurich: Gabriela Hug, Professor of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering (D-ITET), is stepping down from the Commission at her own request after four years of service. The Executive Board would like to thank her for her dedicated work and valuable contribution to the further development of risk management.
For the term of office from 1 February 2026 to 31 January 2030, the Executive Board has re-elected Georg von Krogh, Professor of Strategic Management and Innovation (D-MTEC), as a member of the Commission. Sereina Riniker, Professor of Computational Chemistry (D-CHAB), was newly elected to the Commission as a replacement for Gabriela Hug. The Executive Board wishes the newly elected and re-elected members every success in their responsible roles.
The Risk Management Commission advises the President and the Executive Board on matters relating to risk management, risk financing and insurance. It regularly assesses the risk, damage and insurance situation at ETH Zurich and supports the university’s various institutions in coordinating and organising risk management.
Sustainability Council now complete
The Sustainability Council at ETH Zurich is now complete. The Executive Board has appointed André Studart, Professor of Complex Materials at D-MATL, to fill the vacant seat on the Council representing the professorial staff. His first term of office will end on 31 May 2027, coinciding with that of the other seven members from the professorial staff who were elected in May 2025.
The Sustainability Council also includes representatives from the Student Union (VSETH), the Academic Association of Scientific Staff (AVETH) and the Staff Commission (PeKo). The Council is complemented by the Vice President for Infrastructure and Sustainability and another member of the Executive Board. The Environmental Officer is a permanent guest.
The Executive Board congratulates André Studart on his election and wishes all members every success in their work on the Sustainability Council.
