Changes are coming to CV pages/person search result pages in AEM in the fall of 2025 and early 2026.

Why the change?
The administration and WCMS managers have requested an adaptation of the CV page concept in AEM for a more sustainable long-term solution due to the following reasons:
- CV information for the same individual can vary across different websites and from the person search page.
- The current AEM solution is not intuitive for authors.
- Authors are often confused by information sourced from multiple platforms.
- Not all ETH members can add CV information in AEM due to Adobe license limitations.
- CV pages should follow best practice.
- From a development perspective, the existing solution is challenging to test for system updates and overly complicated for future improvements.
A centralized source of information is essential to ensure data consistency and facilitate further development of ETH applications and AEM components.
The new CV concept aims to help facilitate best practice guidelines for CV information by keeping CV information:
- as concise as possible.
- as consistent in appearance or structure as possible to aid in the best user experience.
- accessible.
What will change?
eAdressen / MyContact
A new application MyContact is under development by IT Services which will replace the current eAdressen application. MyContact will retain the same functionality as the current eAdressen, but the CV module has been expanded to meet the new CV concept in AEM and to provide a better user experience in managing CV data. The new CV module of Mycontact will:
- have many additional fields, all designed to hold specific types of CV information with clear and accessible titles, links, tables, or lists - depending on the field's information.
- house all CV information, with the exception of the basic contact information and organisation affiliation which come from the ETH Person database.
- all fields with the exception of the organisational affilitation will be optional and controlled by each individual member from the application itself.
- allow the configuration of personal social media links
- allow the configuration of a 'shortURL' which will replace the encrypted URL of the person in any person list in the AEM system.
- allow the configuration of a display of up to four publications -either automatically by Leitzahl/name or by manually configuring up to four specific publications to be displayed with an optional link to see all publications (destination link is the choice of the user).
IMPORTANT: Due to limitations in the new application as well as the housing of CV information currently in multiple applications, all old CV information from the eAdressen application (including images) and AEM cannot be migrated to the new application. As a result, there will be a designated period of time where both the old and new application are open to allow the manual copy of some information from one to the other by individuals, as well as maintain the existing information displayed on websites until the switch of templates is made in AEM to meet the new design and application source.
What happens if I do not add new content in the new MyContact application?
For members do not transfer their content during the transition period, only their contact information will be displayed on the CV page. The old eAdressen application will remain in read-only mode for a limited time to allow for the transfer of any remaining necessary information to the new application before being permanently shut down.
AEM content changes
The changes will affect the display of content on the individual person search result page as well as person CV pages.
Person lists will continue to function and link to your website's existing dynamic person detail pages. However, three major changes will affect the CV information displayed on CV pages within AEM:
- Person cache pages will no longer supply information to CV pages.
- Individual CV pages will not allow the addition of any components on the template. Consequently, all existing components will not be displayed on the frontend, be moved to a nonvisible section at the bottom of the template and will eventually be removed from the page template in a future cleanup of old AEM templates and components.
- All CV information for dynamic person detail pages and individual CV pages will be sourced exclusively from the new MyContact application.
In addition to the updates to the data source for the CV pages in AEM, the CV pages will also feature a new design. An example of the upcoming design can be seen in Figure 1.

IMPORTANT!
Not all current CV information stored in AEM or the old eAdressen application can be added to the new system. For instance, manually created tables, news component information, videos, and images cannot be added in MyContact.
Each section of the application has specific fields, many of which have formatting limitations. Additionally, the application imposes a limit of 16,000 characters for any single field.
As a result, members should carefully evaluate any overly complex CV page information created in AEM or eAdressen. Please note that the option to upload a PDF will still be available in the new eAdressen.
Person cache pages in AEM are available in read only mode from the beginning of December. To gain access to your CV cache page information after the CV switch to MyContact, you can use tool on Access to CV cache page.
