Individual collaborations in research, teaching and knowledge transfer

Description

  • Employees of domestic and international research partners of ETH professorships without a written agreement and as part of an informal exchange of knowledge. There is no need for on-site presence.
  • Guest speakers who have been invited to ETH and do not have a teaching assignment within the meaning of Art. 17a of the ETH Act
  • Students or pupils from other institutions for personal development

Requirements

Employee or guest speeker 

  • Employment outside ETH

Student

  • Student from another institution
  • as part of the Bachelor's or Master's thesis

Pupil

  • Pupil at a Swiss school
  • at least 16 years old
  • part of their education (e.g. Matura thesis) with written confirmation from the school
  • Written consent of the legal guardian to the General Terms and Conditions required

Note

Please note that the guest category may not be used for unpaid internships. If you have any questions or uncertainties, please contact the HR department responsible.

Work permit

The roles of guests in this category are not officially recognised by the Immigration Office. As a result, ETH Zurich cannot apply for residence permits for these guests, as there is no legal basis. Various provisions apply to these guests depending on their country of origin, residence status and visa.
