This program is designed specifically for Doctoral Students and Postdocs who are looking to enhance their interpersonal communication skills within and beyond their research teams. The goal of this session is to discover strategies to enhance clarity and understanding in interpersonal communications and techniques to reduce misunderstandings.

  • The principles of interpersonal communication
  • Introduction to Non-Violent Communication: Intentional and empathy driven communication
  • Introduction to Transactional Analysis: Mindsets and how they influence our daily communications
  • Practice, practice, practice

At the end of this 2-hour session, you will have received a compact introduction to key concepts in interpersonal communication and have:

  • Appreciated the basic principles of interpersonal communication and how they affect your daily interactions with others
  • Discovered ways to communicate with more intention in order to build trust
  • Learned strategies to manage misunderstandings
  • Practiced these strategies in a fun and safe environment
