Internationality, Culture & Religion
ETH Zurich welcomes people from different cultures, religions and worldviews. We are committed to treating each other with respect and curiosity and actively opposing discrimination.

Cultural and Religious Diversity
A person's cultural or religious background refers to the beliefs, values, and practices they grew up with or are most familiar with. One's beliefs or worldviews can be expressed through certain actions or ways of life, such as attending church services or holidays, performing certain rituals, or wearing clothing or objects with religious or symbolic meaning. Examples of this are the wearing of certain items of clothing or jewellery such as the kippah, the headscarf or the cross pendant. The freedom to do so (freedom of religion and conscience) is a fundamental right enshrined in the external page Swiss Federal Constitution (Article 15). An open exchange about one's own values strengthens mutual understanding and is essential for sustainable cooperation in research, teaching and the workplace – a concern that ETH Zurich actively supports.
