Software Upgrade Firewall/VPN Cluster Phase 2

Software upgrades are being carried out on the firewall and remote access VPN infrastructure of ETH. This is due to various bug fixes, some of which are security-related. This will be carried out in two phases.
Thanks to hardware redundancy, the upgrade should be possible without interruption. However, it is still possible that individual UDP/TCP sessions are not transferred cleanly. Therefore, short interruptions are possible in connections between VPZs and to the Internet.

Network interruption Friday, 31st of October 2025 from approx. 06:00-08:00h in the building UNG communication room D11.1

On Friday, October 31, 2025 from approx. 06:00-08:00h, there will be a network interruption as a result of the access upgrade in the entire UNG building.

Affected by this interruption is the floor switch swi-ung-d11-1-a.

On Thursday, October 30, 2025 from approx. 06:00-08:00h, there will be a network interruption as a result of the access upgrade in the CAB building.

Affected by this interruption is the floor switch swi-cab-h70-4-a (Floors H,J).

On Tuesday, October 28, 2025 from approx. 06:00-08:00h, there will be a network interruption as a result of the access upgrade in the CAB building.

Affected by this interruption is the floor switch swi-cab-f70-4-a (Floor F).

Network interruption on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, from approximately 6:00 to 8:00 a.m. in building LEH, communication room C6.

On Tuesday, October 28, 2025, from approximately 6:00 to 8:00 a.m., there will be a network interruption in building LEH due to the access upgrade.
This interruption will affect switch swi-leh-c6-a (entire LEH building).

ANNOUNCEMENT: Spectrum Scale NAS22 CES software upgrade at H?nggerberg location from 27.10.2025 from 7 pm until 11 pm

On the Spectrum Scale system (NAS22) at the H?nggerberg location we are planning a software update on the access servers (CES) from27.10.2025 at 7:00 pm to 30.10.2025at 11 pm.

This action is part of a regular update. All actions that could be critical for the availability of the NAS service will only be carried out after 7 pm.

On Wednesday, October 29 from approx. 05:30-07:00, the software on the zone routers in network zones H1, H2 and H3 will be upgraded. Thanks to redundancy, there should be no interruption. The affected buildings are:
HPF; HPG; HPH; HPR; HPS; HPV; HPY; HPZ; HEZ; HPK; HPL; HPM; HPP; HPW; HDB; HGP; HIT; HPF; HPT
The server room in HIT is not affected.

On Thursday, October 30 from approx. 05:30-07:00, the software on the zone routers in the BS and HCI network zones will be upgraded. Thanks to redundancy, there should be no interruption. The affected buildings are:

The server room in HCI is not affected.

On Tuesday, November 4 from approx. 19:00-20:30, the software on the zone routers in the ALS and LCA network zones will be upgraded. Thanks to redundancy, there should be no interruption in the LCA network zone. In the ALS network zone, there will be a network interruption of approx. 45 minutes for some buildings.
